Day 13 - Vermont & New York

*Thursday, August 13th, 2015
Simply beautiful surroundings, wonderful amenities including a made to order breakfast. If you
ever have the chance, this is truly a fantastic escape. The owners and staff are absolutely wonderful!
Multi course meal with so many offerings. Michael had Lumberjack mush,
topped with 100% pure Vermont maple syrup, of course.
Followed by a dish of berries. They had many beverages to choose from and
waited on us as if in a regular restaurant, but with a homier feel.
We all had the Mexican omelet, but there were lots of other options. Our choice
of several kinds of freshly baked bread and our choice of salsa "heat". The
owner is the chef and he makes everything to order. All with a smile!
This is Duke (just like the Bush's Baked Beans dog). Michael said he
asked if we could sneak him some omelet. LOL This whole state
seemed to be doggy friendly!

Vermont Country Store, Weston, VT (opens 9am)
657 Main St., Weston, VT 05161 - (802) 824-3184
This is the original store, but if you can't make it out here,
you can order online.
Reeds candies were discontinued. The store bought the rights
to them and now they produce them. They specialize in items
that are virtually impossible to find, right down to an old fashioned
manual typwriter (electric one too). Fun place to shop!
Hoosick Tire, Hoosick, NY
We were badly in need a single tire replacement, as Michael
noticed that the front left was balding. Well, I literally prayed for
our safe travels til we found a place and somewhere that wouldn't
take hours and hours out of our trip. God answered that prayer
and then some! We happened upon this place on our regular route,
the guy had an exact match to our tires in stock and we didn't
even have to get out of the vehicle to have it changed! He had it
done in 10 minutes, including finding the tire in his stock! Turns
out he works his off time as a race car pit crew guy. No wonder
he was so fast! We wished we could have this guy around for
our next need of tires. Super cool experience!
* Weston, VT to Utica, NY 169 miles*
EMILIE HUXLEY, (Utica, NY)
I was thrilled to get to spend some time with my dear friend
Emilie. We have known each other since Junior High and graduated
high school together. I hadn't seen her since then (32 years!) It was
nice to be able to introduce her to Michael, since they had been
aquainted on FB. Even if its a brief one, these "stop and smell the
roses" type visits are priceless. Tomorrow is not promised, take the
time to tell your friends and family that you love them, and take time
to visit them whenever possible, even if just for a hug.
*Nicky Doodles, Utica, NY
This is a fun place that Emilie recommended. Locally owned and
operated with all sorts of ice cream items and "hot dog joint" type
foods. Fun place with outside seating and yummy food.
The hot dogs and buns are locally made. Very tasty!
* Utica, NY to Buffalo, NY 199 miles *
*Frank and Teressa's Anchor Bar, Home of the original Buffalo Chicken Wings
 1047 Main St, Buffalo, NY
This lovely "lady" greets you when you come in

I think she knows what a catch Michael is! LOL!

We orded a "bucket" of wings to share and we had enough
left over for a couple more meals. These were truly the best
we had ever had. We ordered medium heat and it was the
perfect flavor without a lot of burn. They do offer up to what
they refer to as "suicide" heat. I not only wasn't interested in that
kind of burn, I personally think the name is in poor taste. JMHO
