Day 17 - Ohio & Kentucky

Monday, August 17th, 2015
*Spring Grove Cemetery, Cincinnati, OH
Some beautiful and interesting gravesites here. I liked this little chapel-looking one.

Auntie Carolyn especially liked this submarine marker
*Spongebob Headstones  For the full story, click HERE
The young woman buried here was a twin, so her parents set up double plots.
This is the view you see when you drive up, not what originally was there.
(Note: we placed the flag at the site, to honor Sgt. Kimberly Walker)

This was how the grave originally looked (photo found online)
They stand 6ft 4" and weigh 7000 each
Now they are hidden back here and also concealed by bushes
Close-up
This is for the still living, twin sister Kara (in the USN)
Sgt Walker actually had written these poems. The first
one is on her site and gives you a sense she knew she was
going to die. She was murdered on Valentine's Day, 2013
 This poem is beautiful
I suspect that this was the marker they had after
the removal of the Spongebobs, during the dispute
over them. It is a standard size plaque. Based on
info I found online, the cemetery paid for the large
marble slabs to block the view. The family paid
$26K for the Spongebobs and got licensing permission.

*Skyline Chili, Cincinnati, OH
My dear friend who is an Ohio native recommended this place, then another
friend echoed her, so we sought one and found it was right in our path. Yummy!
This is a small fraction of the large baggie of cheese they give you
I took this pic because I found it funny. What does Fifth Third mean?
If you look at the signs, it isn't the street names. Weird.

*Cincinnati, OH to Elizabethtown, KY 146 miles*
Passed the Louisville Slugger ballpark en route

  1. I love that large Gothic looking mausoleum. Interesting story about the Spongebob Grave Stones. Me personally I'd probably go Speed Racer and Chim Chim
